Maybach is sparking interest and commitment to diversity and equality, something the artist has in common with and strikingly similar to Artist Keith Haring’s Activism and use of highly visible art-directed expressions to reflect social issues, and Jumper’s Collection INTROSPECTION: THE PRIDE COLLECTION to celebrate GAY PRIDE 2018.

Last year, Maybach was appointed the Official Artist of Houston Pride as well as the Official Visiting Artist of Richmond Pride.

Maybach had the distinct honor to present original works of art to the Mayor’s of both Houston and Richmond, in which he highlighted the diversities of the cities within the works.

This activism draws similarities to Keith Haring, an American artist and activist in 1980s New York, whose artwork raised awareness on social issues at the time. One of the main awareness campaigns Haring participated in was AIDS awareness and activism. As an openly gay man and someone who was suffering from AIDS himself, Haring wanted to break the silence and stigma on AIDS as “gay cancer.” Through Haring’s style and images, he was able to reach a larger audience and spread the awareness of AIDS. Maybach carries on this legacy: giving a new focused awareness to history through the visual arts.

About Jumper Maybach

Ben Workman aka Jumper Maybach was born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1963. He knew something special had taken place when his grandfather applied a white face on him the first time. It was then, within an instant that Jumper was born.

However, it wasn’t until a religious experience during a painful time in Jumper’s life which enabled his vision to fully take shape. Ben believes it is a person’s traumas that define the individual. He releases his joys and pain into his artwork, and thus becomes the storyteller of the creation. Jumper’s techniques are self-taught through intense experimentation leading to an end result: unique and representative of the artist. It’s about understanding love, peace and the ultimate healthy transformation of an individual.

The art is a constant evolution of color and complete abandonment of the paint. It is an unplanned performance that creates the extraordinary works. The complexity within his art comes from within. Jumper is unashamed to teach the world a lesson in compassion. His art is a beacon for ending hate, bullying and intolerance in the world.

Not long after Jumper began his career as an artist, he started to receive national and international recognition for his work. In 2013, Jumper held his first gallery show, which ultimately led to an invite to attend Art Dubai 2013, UAE as a VIP guest. The Artist exhibited in Dubai, UAE in 2015 and 2017 at the prestigious ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE.

Shortly after, Jumper had the opportunity to exhibit 39 large important pieces of work in Venice, Italy in his largest exhibition to date. He created and curated a Venice series specifically for the show which also included a screening of the trailer to his documentary “The Jumper Maybach Story”. Another momentous career moment occurred when Jumper was invited to exhibit his art at the Gallerie Du Louvre.

In 2018, Maybach embarked on a four-city tour exhibiting his series The Pride Collection: INTROSPECTION, which saw him exhibit his work in Houston, Richmond, San Diego and Nashville. In many cities, the collection was tied to an LGBT Pride celebration. Maybach was named the Official Artist of Houston Pride and Official Guest Artist of Richmond Pride. Proceeds from sales of pride works were donated back to each respective city’s pride organizations.

He has also been selected as the Design and Artistic Director of Anomaly: The Magic of Robby Bennett and Other Curiosities. Maybach will design the set, costumes, programs and other entities for the touring show.

For 2019, the coming decade, and for as long as he actively can with his artistic voice, Jumper will pursue his mission of ending hate, bullying and intolerance through his extraordinary talent.
